Enter the Focus Zone

Entering the Focus Zone

Let’s face it, a small business owner juggles tasks all day long, every day. There is no down time to sit back and reflect or plan out business strategy. The reason for this is because we are just putting band-aids on the tasks and not completing them. So they stay on the to-do list.

One of the most effective techniques we have learned is creating a focus zone. Both physically and mentally. The purpose of the focus zone is to employ complete and intense focus to one task, fully completing it. Once and for all.

So, the way it works is you need to quite your office environment. Close your door, turn off your cell phone, radio, and all non-essential electronics. There should literally be no noise in your space.

Next, you need to pick one task that needs completing. You are going to give it 20 minutes. For the next 20 minutes, you will only focus on the task. You must take a few minutes before the task begins to close your eyes and start to zero in on the task, what needs to be done, how you are going to do it. By doing this, you are training your mind to eliminate all the white noise from the other tasks of the day.

Now step into the focus zone with intensity. Your goal is to complete the task. Without ringing phones, incoming emails and texts, you should have full range of your capacity. Stay on point and complete the task.

We assign three tasks per day now that must be completed. That is one hour of our time.

What we have found out is that by doing this every day, the jumbled mess of the day starts to be more clear. By pushing tasks off the to-do list, we are able to actually run our business with more clarity. We are more organized. More effective. More successful.

The only cost is 20 minutes of your time. The benefits are endless. Start this today and thank us tomorrow.
